What is Reiki?
Reiki is a Japanese word for Universal or Divine Life Force, present in all living beings and other forms of existence. The Usui System of Reiki Healing is a discipline you can learn to let this pure Divine Life Energy flow by your hands with a light touch on the body.
Hawayo Takata: “Reiki is a radionic wave like radio, applied locally or as in short wave for a distant treatment. It penetrates thin layers of silk, linen, porcelain or lead, wood or steel, because it comes from the Great Spirit, the Infinite. It is absolutely harmless, therefore, it is practical and save. Being a universal force of the Divine Spirit, it belongs to all who seek and desire to learn art of healing”.
By birth we are spiritual beings connected with God Power. We are nurtured and inspired by this connection with the Divine. Growing up we are tensed with unreleased emotions and indoctrinations and we are drifting away from our selves. Losing our selves, we are also losing our connection with the Divine Spirit. Our emotional and physical body react on this separation with physical complaints, fear, self-sabotage, stress, exhaustion, etc.
Gautama the Buddha witnessed with great compassion the suffering of humanity in the world. This inspired him to contemplate and meditate to understand how human consciousness works and after years he attained the state of Enlightenment. He experienced the law of life as well as for Gods, as for human beings and animals. He experienced a deep transformation into peace and immunity in the middle of the suffering in the world. In this state of Awakening, Buddha taught people to realize Awakening themselves. His teachings, the Buddhism, expand and are known all over the world now.
Mikao Usui, a monk living in Japan around 1870, founder of the Reiki system as we use today, saw with same compassion the suffering around him. He also wanted to be able like Jesus and Buddha to heal the body by touch and teach people in their true nature. After years of searching he discovered Reiki and travelling through Japan he initiated people in Reiki. He used to stand at noon on a market place with a burning torch. People walked to him and said: “Silly monk, it’s noon. We don’t need the light of your torch”. Mikao Usui answered: “This is to show you the light of your mental body. Your light is not shining; so you have physical problems and sorrow. This light, I call it Reiki, will enlighten your mind. Come to my lecture tonight and I will tell you about Reiki and how you can learn it”.
Mikao Usui initiated people in Reiki so that their connection with Source, the Divine, he called it Reiki, will be activated again. He guided them to use Reiki for healing for themselves and for the people around them.
Like looking glasses catch and magnify the light of the sun high-potentially, so after the first initiation in Reiki your hands can do the same with the Universal Life Force, ready to give.
